What is HoopVista?
HoopVista is a research tool for NBA DFS player props. It surfaces model projections, expected value, hit-rate context, and ranked pair ideas so you can evaluate props with more than a gut feel.
What is EV (expected value)?
Expected Value (EV) in betting is the average amount of money you expect to win or lose per bet over time.
Simple way to think about it:
- Positive EV means you will make money in the long run
- Negative EV means you will lose money in the long run
Basic idea: EV = (chance you win × amount you win) − (chance you lose × amount you lose)
What is the Kelly criterion?
Kelly Criterion tells you how much of your bankroll to bet when you have a positive EV.
It answers one question:
How big should your bet be to grow your money fastest over time?
Core idea:
- Bet more when your edge is big
- Bet less when your edge is small
- Bet nothing if there is no edge
